Rapid Response Productions completes "Yellow Yellow Yellow", a one‐hour television special that provides an in‐depth look at the Indycar Safety Team.
Los Angeles, CA—October 28, 2016
Indycar Safety Team Manager Mike Yates doesn’t like to take credit for the fast action he and his team took when a piece of suspension pierced James Hinchcliffe in a life-threatening accident at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in 2015.
“It’s not an individual pride. It’s the pride that our system is put together that allows these results to happen,” says Yates in a new television documentary that focuses on the system and protocols that the safety team operates under when a crash occurs on the track, including the quick response that saved James Hinchcliffe’s life.
Yellow Yellow Yellow is a one-hour television special that examines the work done by the safety team and the accident investigation group and their dedication to preventing motorsports injuries. The special includes detailed interviews with safety manager Mike Yates, head of the accident investigation group Jeff Horton, orthopedic consultant and driver advocate Dr. Terry Trammell, and drivers James Hinchcliffe and Tony Kanaan. The documentary is narrated by Formula 1 pit reporter Will Buxton and produced by motorsports production company Rapid Response Productions.
“Race fans are already familiar with the amazing work the safety team does for Indycar, but this documentary gave us a chance to get up close and meet the people who are at every race with the single purpose of trying to keep drivers safe,” says Michael William Miles, Executive Producer. “We just so happened to be in production on our feature documentary, Rapid Response, when James’ incident occurred and were lucky to be able to interview so many current personnel involved in the rescue success story. It was fascinating to hear their stories, watch them prepare for races and see the time and effort they put into safety development even when they’re not on the track. We feel their commitment to racing safety is inspiring. Hopefully this special will give race fans a better understanding of what the safety team does and how they do it.”
